Travelers Notebook

A Colorful, This is Life TN
I used Vicki Boutin paper and stickers to create this travelers notebook. I LOVE all this life…stickers and ephemera that capture the everyday. Pencils, binder clips, coffee cup stains, ink blots and awesome too! I love how some of the stickers are semi-translucent, so they look like actual ink stains. I showed my Sister the finished TN and she liked it so much that I gave it to her ๐Ÿ˜

My Projects..Junk Journals, Ephemera and Paper Crafting

I’ve worked on several projects over the Summer and I thought I’d share some. I had “assignments” for Pink Paper Peppermints, which are fun because they request you use a certain kit.
August was Word Studies and Apple of His Eye. Of course I LOVE anything vintage school so this was easy!

I love using vintage ephemera like old flash cards, report cards, class portraits or anything else vintage school themed! I find a lot of school themed treasures when I shop at thrift stores and antique places. I also love to use the vintage ephemera in my scrapbooking, paper crafting, and junk journals!
I also made a prayer portfolio using another kit from Pink Paper Peppermints..I love the colors of this kit! Think about these things.

Upcycled Baby Clothes

When I’m at the thrift store sometimes I find super cute baby clothes. Some of them that have embroidered appliquรฉs or designs on the front that would make super cute journal. Some of them have cute patterns or nice trim that I cut off to use in my junk journals. This one I cut out in a square and sewed it on to regular card stock and then glued it to the front of my journal. My cutting is not precise but that’s what I like about upcycling doesn’t have to be perfect!

Under Construction

Shortly after my last post I decided to take everything out of my craft room and organize. (Why, oh why did I do that!?) My room is good size and right off of our living room. I stacked everything on the living room floor and the couch (neatly of course). No one complained. I mean, I did leave enough room for two to sit on the couch and have an unobstructed view of the television. A couple months later I herd little grumblings about the "stuff". So I put some of it in totes and stacked them in the hallway. Don't panic! I did leave plenty of room to escape in case of fire. Truth be told, and I am mortified to say that all the stuff sat everywhere until last week! Argghhhhh..you know the usual stuff happened the last year and half. Life, life and more life! I got a boost of energy last week and psyched myself up. Dollar Tree, Container Store, and Target to the rescue! I stacked and situated baskets, drawers and containers. I am happy to report that I am now the proud owner of the "shell" of a craft room. I say "shell"  because it is now ready to be filled with all the stuff. You know the stuff I put into the totes long ago ๐Ÿ˜‚ Putting everything away is going really well. Netflix is ever do quietly yelling my name..but I am holding fast! Work will be completed within the week (yay!) and I will report back. Ahem, I really do mean it this time.

A place for everything and everything in it's place!

                                                       Happy Crafting,

Summer Smashbook

 Happy 2021!

As you can see I took a break from blogging. I am so happy to be back and ready to share all my creativeness with you! I had a lot of time in 2020 to create! I discovered printables, fussy cuttin, glue sticks, mixed media memberships, alcohol markers, real smash books, and so much more.

In the Summer I fell upon the Reset Girl (TRG) and her community. I went to “Summer camp” for the first time and it was SO MUCH FUN! I think it was so fun for me because Camp reset was a make believe fun place to socialize, complete creative challenges and best of all to meet new gals with the same love of everything crafty. So I will restart my blog there, give you a look at my Camp Reset smash book. What i like most about TRG is her vintage girls a.k.a Honeys, and all of the vintage goodness that’s in her kits. Her smash book was plum full!!

Welcome to camp ya’ll! Get ready to have some fun! Isn’t the camp map neat!? The Camp Reset site was amazing.  We got to pick cabins ( in forum style) to join and chat with cabin mates. The camp map was center of it all. You clicked on where you wanted to go and poof, there you were! I was really impressed with everything..web site creator props!

All the campers were super nice! During Cori’s live stream sessions on YouTube we were all able to “talk” via the chat. I never knew that was possible!? (Hello...where have I been?) We collected badges for all the challenges we completed, and the banner was where we could put them.  I put a picture of my grandma Verna when she was camping on my badge holder. My grandma and grandpa loved to camp.
Almost every Summer we would go camping, it was the best!
My big sis and I got to go to camp a couple of tmes when we were younger and we loved it. It was one of the best parts of my childhood.

My favorite activities at camp! Well...maybe not the water skiing.
I LOVED lawn darts and horse shoes growing up..who cares if you could impale yourself with the dart...cripes it was fun!

Rainy day activities..no fun when it rains at camp! But as you can see, there was lots to do! I like putting different things (game pieces etc.) in pocket pages and using my fuse tool or clear packing tape to close up the pocket.

Oh yes, I thought camp hair deserved a page in my smash book! I LOVE braiding and I was the queen of french braiding when I was a camper.

Writing home about my camp adventure was a must! Campers in the swap forum did a post card swap. I even got a few! I used a vintage office envelope to put letters in and punched holes in the post cards to include them behind the envelope.

Camp life..
I got a Girl Scout compass awhile back and used the box in the pocket page (plus a twig and wood chip from my yard) ;D  I thought it went perfectly with my camping theme. I filled up the rest of the pages with my favorite images from magazines, scrapbook stuff and the web.

I had a hard time finding women in what I think, is good camping wear. Like shorts/pants, and good hiking shoes..
But in the 1950s it seems that they wore lots of dresses and heels!

One thing I admired about the 50’s is that they had Elvis and dances.
Rock in roll and sock hops!

TRG Cori added in pages with prompts. Words, phrases, word search, coloring pages and gratitude pages. I really liked that because sometimes its hard to come up with things to fill the pages.

I hope you enjoyed looking through my book as much as I did making it!

Happy Creating,
Melissa

My Craft Show Creations

I haven't been very active this year. Mainly because my life changed drastically. Things are starting to get settled now and I managed to do some fun things for my once-a-year craftshow at a local church. This was my third year doing it, and I'm so happy I did. I love seeing the other crafters, and meeting new ones.
Most everything I create is from something I find at my favorite local thrift store. I found a big bag of kids wooden play blocks and thought..I could glue stuff on to these! I also found little stuffed boyds bears there too. I was SO excited because I knew exactly what I was going to do with them! I put them in old tins and embelished them. My
favorite is the "celebrate life" bear..a celebration wouldn't be complete without a party hat and frappaccino of course!
